I read all of Alistair Maclean's books in the 1970s and decided that it was time to read them again. Puppet On A Chain was my favorite and I enjoyed it again. It's hard getting use to no modern technology in his books like cell phones and computers, but reading it was a reminder of what it was like when I was growing up during this timeframe, which was pretty neat. I've always loved his heroes in his book, especially the ones that have a humorous side to them. If you've never read a Maclean book, pick out a few like this one, go back in time, and just enjoy the story.
